Samsung’s Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on earphones, are now on sale in the US in black for $229.99, according to Samsung Newsroom. People in Europe will have to wait: SamMobile, citing its own sources, reports that the earbuds will launch there in the third week of 2027, as GSMArena relayed.

The earphones were unveiled last month and are currently sold only in South Korea and the US. In South Korea the price is KRW299,999. GSMArena lists the US price as $229, while Samsung’s own announcement says $229.99.

When do the Galaxy Buds On reach Europe?

Samsung has said only that the Buds On would arrive in Europe in early 2027. The third-week timeframe comes from SamMobile’s sources, not from the company. No exact launch date has been given, and Samsung has not confirmed the timing.

What the earbuds do

Samsung says the earbuds are light and aimed at hands-free use. The company lists these features:

  • Talk with Gemini Live by saying “Hey Google, let’s talk live.”
  • Record thoughts through the earbuds’ microphone with Quick Voice Memo, which works only on Galaxy AI supported devices and needs the Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby apps.
  • Head Gestures, such as nodding to accept a call or shaking your head to decline it, reading notifications and dismissing an alarm.
  • Auto Volume, a Labs feature that is turned on under Advanced features, then Labs, then Auto Volume, and needs One UI 8.5 or above.

Head Gestures are off by default and are set up in the phone settings on devices running One UI 8.5 and later. Samsung says alarm dismissal and notification reading require One UI 9.0 or above, and alarm dismissal works only with the Samsung Clock, Reminder and Calendar apps.

Samsung rates battery life at up to 9.5 hours for the earbuds and up to 38 hours with the charging case, when both are charged to 100%. The figures come from internal testing with a pre-production unit, and the company says real-world results vary.

Galaxy SmartTag3 launches alongside

Samsung also put the Galaxy SmartTag3 on sale. A one-pack costs $29.99 and a four-pack costs $99.99. The tag is thinner than earlier versions and works across operating systems through the Galaxy Find Network.

With Compass View, users get distance and direction guidance from up to 60 meters away, about three times the range of the previous generation. Samsung says that range is measured in line of sight, with nothing between the tag and the phone, and walls and other electronics can reduce it. Compass View with Bluetooth Channel Sounding is limited to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Plus. Other phones need ultra-wideband (UWB) support and Android 12 or later.

  • Place Notification, a trial feature, alerts you when a tagged item enters or leaves an area you set. It is switched on in SmartThings under Life, then Find, then Notify when in set place.
  • Location History keeps a tag’s past locations for up to 7 days, then deletes older records automatically.
  • Movement Detection Alert tells you when a tag is moving while disconnected from your phone. It depends on nearby Galaxy devices that have agreed to Offline finding, so alerts can be delayed or missed.

Samsung also warns that a tag that detaches from an item can be a swallowing hazard for young children and pets, and says to fasten it securely and stop using it if it is damaged.

Why it matters for buyers

US and South Korean shoppers can buy the Galaxy Buds On now, and Europeans have only a reported window. The US price is $229.99 per Samsung. Several of the features depend on the phone and software version, so check that your Galaxy phone runs One UI 8.5 or later before counting on Head Gestures or Auto Volume.
