iPhone Duo Size Check: Shorter Than Pro Max, Heavier Than iPhone Air
Folded, Apple's $1,999 iPhone Duo is 11.3mm thick and weighs 254 grams. Here is how that compares with every current iPhone, from the Air to the 18 Pro Max.

Wondering whether Apple’s first foldable will fit in your pocket? The iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999, measures 11.3mm thick when folded shut and weighs 254 grams. A side-by-side comparison by CNET with every current iPhone shows it is the heaviest of the group, though it is noticeably shorter than the biggest models.
The Duo’s key numbers
- Screens: a 5.4-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display.
- Thickness: 11.3mm folded, 5.2mm unfolded.
- Weight: 254 grams.
- Price: $1,999.
CNET describes the phone as neither especially light nor especially thin, but also not too bulky. It works as a phone and tablet hybrid, suited to multitasking, watching movies and working on the go.
How it compares with other iPhones
Against the $1,299 iPhone 18 Pro Max, which has a 6.9-inch display, is 8.75mm thick and weighs 249 grams, the Duo is only slightly heavier. That gap is negligible. The real difference is height: the Duo is much shorter, which makes it easier to slip into a pocket, even a smaller one.
The $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, is also 8.75mm thick and weighs 211 grams. Next to it, the Duo starts to feel a little more hefty.
The $899 iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch display, measures 7.95mm and weighs 177 grams, so the Duo is significantly heavier. The $699 iPhone 17E has a 6.1-inch display, is 7.8mm thick and weighs 169 grams.
The lightest and thinnest is the $1,099 iPhone Air, with a 6.5-inch display, a thickness of 5.6mm and a weight of 165 grams. CNET says that anyone moving from the Air to the Duo will notice the biggest change of any current iPhone.
What it means for you
If pocket space matters, the numbers suggest the Duo is easier to carry than the largest iPhones because of its shorter body, but it is thicker and heavier than most of the lineup. If you are coming from a light phone such as the Air or the 17E, expect it to feel clearly heavier and about twice as thick.
Size is not the only trade-off. CNET notes this is a first-generation device. It uses Touch ID instead of Face ID, its multitasking is limited compared with other foldables, and its cameras are more scaled back than those of the iPhone 18 Pro. On the plus side, the inner display has a matte texture that reduces glare, and the software works across both screens.
What to do next
If you are considering the jump, try holding one in a store if you can, and compare it with your current phone. CNET also has an in-depth review of the Duo. A baseline iPhone 18 has not been announced yet; it is expected early next year, so the current size comparison may change when it arrives.
